Support to find a new career

Having worked in a corporate office environment for over 24 years, Sandip wanted a complete change of career and something that would mean he was more physical and working outside for more of his time.  Lakhvinder supported Sandip with re-designing his CV to suit the construction industry and also steered him towards suitable jobs in construction.  Sandip now feels much more confident to apply for jobs in a new industry and has applied for a training course to enhance his skills; he is also ready to start networking to find a new job… all thanks to Lakhvinder’s support!  Here he tells us about his experience with Twining in his own words…

What was your work life like before?

I was stuck in changing careers. I have always worked in a corporate work environment behind a desk in the office for over 24 years. I felt like I had reached the end of my career in terms of progression and job satisfaction and I really wanted a new challenge and career that was much more physical and outdoors.

When and why did you begin working with Twining? How did Twining help?

I started working with Lakhvinder at Twining in September 2024. I really needed help in finding work and tailoring my CV to specific roles working on a construction site. Lakhvinder’s professional help was paramount and I began taking concrete steps (Pardon the pun!) to start my new career. Lakhvinder was very calm in nature and explained everything easily and reassuringly during our regular weekly meetings. She spent quality time with me reviewing my CV and offering valuable insights into how I could present my skills and experiences to stand out. She also guided me in where to look online specifically for construction related jobs. It was such a great relief to have Lakhvinder by my side who was so knowledgeable and encouraging as I started searching and applying for jobs in construction. Lakhvinder’s support gave me the confidence to try different avenues in my job search and to keep applying.

What’s happening in your work life now?

I feel much more at ease in trying to find work in construction all thanks to Lakhvinder and her amazing support. I am confident that I will find and start my new role very soon. I have enrolled on a short accredited training course which will put me in an even greater position when future employers look at my CV. I plan to take on Lakvinder’s advice to network more, gain more skills via training and approach companies directly to secure that new job. Thank you so much Lakhvinder!
