This has given me my confidence back

Annette felt like she’d never get back to work and this was having a detrimental impact on her mental health.  Her NHS Talking Therapies counsellor referred her to Twining Enterprise, and she was paired with Amy, her dedicated Employment Advisor.  From the very first time Annette spoke to Amy on the phone she felt comfortable with her.  Amy then supported Annette to find a job she loves!  We asked Annette to tell us some more about her inspirational employment story…

What was your life like before finding Twining Enterprise and your Employment Advisor?

Before I received support from Twining Enterprise, I found my life was going downhill. I was at the end of my tether and thought I would never get back to work. This had a major impact on my health. I had a bad experience in past work and left the role due to this. I was looking for roles, which wasn’t getting anywhere. I found it hard on my own and having no support from anyone around me. I came to a stage where I was going to give up.

When and why did you begin working with Twining Enterprise? How did they help?

Due to the effect this had on my mental health, my therapist referred me to Twining. I find it very hard to open up, trust and feel comfortable with others. When Amy first rang me, I immediately knew I could feel comfortable. She was very calm and patient and listened to what I was going through. She was there every step of the way. She was giving me the confidence to not give in and I don’t think I would have gotten this far without Amy. We need more people like her, who are there to listen and support someone that has gone through issues with work that has affected their mental health. The outcome that Amy gave me was like a flower that blossomed.

What’s happening in your life now?

I found a job with Amy, and I don’t know how to thank her. It was nice to have someone there to support you every step of the way when usually there isn’t. This has given me my confidence back. I am now in a permanent role, which I am thoroughly enjoying.
